Rosacea, Seborrhea & Coppery Skin
Rosacea begins with seborrhea. Seborrhea is an increased secretion of the sebum, a dysfunction of sebaceous glands. Normally, sebaceous glands excrete 1-2 grams of sebum in 24 hours. These glands are located in several areas; nose, forehead, chin and scalp. When there is an increased secretion of sebum, unpleasant symptoms occur, i.e. the skin becomes yellowish and shiny and some areas appear greasy. Then the first fine lines appear, long and red lines also known as vascular arborization due to the narrowing of blood vessels. The cause is partly due to a kidney disfunction, but also due to the consumption of synthetic foods, synthetic drinks, fast foods and genetically engineered fruits and vegetables. People afflicted with this condition often try all kinds of remedies including pills, injections or over the counter creams that contain more chemicals, and thus further aggravating the situation.
Another factor is bacterial, caused by bacilli found in comedones and pustules. These bacilli free enzymes called esterase, which in turn free fatty acids from triglycerides that enter the composition of sebum. The freed fatty acids irritate the follicles of pelosehaceids and determine the appearance of hyperkeratosis and the inflammation that accompanies rosacea; seborrhea first appears on the scalp; seborrhea is the primary result caused by increased sebum production, which originates from one or more of the following factors: abuse of medications because of no medical supervision, stress, sugar; conditioner lotions and shampoos containing numerous chemicals; these factors produce itchiness and small pimples on the forehead. Many people confuse this condition with pimples and acne, but in fact it is seborrhea which produces rosacea. Rosacea in turn produces coppery skin (redness).
Besides the aforementioned factors, others that may contribute are nervous stress, an emotional state of mind, distress, and insomnia. For example, if your job involves a great deal of stress, or you have a heavy workload, or you must deal with a harsh or angry boss, or irritating people all day, your emotions are likely to be affected. Perhaps you are experiencing family problems, or the economic recession have you upset, agitated and unable to sleep or eat. All of these factors predispose you to rosacea. For females, menstrual irregularities and a predisposition to facial congestion may result.
Other forms of rosacea affect females entering menopause (40 to 50 years old), though cases exist where the patient is much younger. Generally however, those suffering with this ailment have also been troubled by facial seborrhea. First, a diffuse redness appears. It disappears and reappears time and again, becoming permanent over time (rosacea). It can become even more complicated with time, resulting in coperoza. This condition has the appearance of tiny branch-like lines of blood vessels. |

Coperoza (coppery skin or red face) is an ailment believed to be caused by a disturbance in circulation, or an upset of the digestive or nervous systems. The condition is characterized by redness on the apples of the cheeks and side of the nose. It leads to the formation of tiny red veins on the face caused by the dilation of capillary vessels.Generally, it affects those 30 years and older with dry, sensitive skin. Rarely is the condition seen on those with oily skin. Sudden changes in temperature and prolonged exposure to sunlight aggravate the condition. The face and nose become bright red as if an excess of alcohol has been consumed.
I have developed specially formulated botanical moisturizing creams for these kinds of conditions, rosacea and coperoza. We must strive to prevent all these potential irritants from having adverse effects on our bodies. We must be optimistic and maintain balance in our diet, but mostly, we must be alert when negative changes occur to our health. Take notice quickly and act accordingly in order to prevent further deterioration of the immune system. I strongly recommend that any one who suffers from rosacea or acne should follow the treatments which are described in the section: "Foods to Avoid".
